Stopping the "leaky pipeline"

I had a wonderful conversation with postdoc women in my workshop, “Creating and Cultivating Career Success for Women in Science” at the University of Pennsylvania. I want to thank Vanessa Gonzalez-Perez with Penn Arts and Science - DEI, the Penn Postdoc Association, and the Biomedical Postdoctoral Program for co-sponsoring this workshop. Despite earning a Ph.D., postdoc women spoke of not being taken seriously - labeled too emotional or too assertive – and being told they cannot have a family if they want to have a successful career. How can we stop the “leaky pipeline” of women in STEMM if we cannot change explicit and implicit biases? I have always believed that postdoc women will become principal investigators of every discipline, and bring their talents to research, discovery, and cures of diseases and conditions that exist now and in the future. hashtag#science hashtag#research hashtag#pipeline hashtag#womeninscience
