In my workshops for women leaders, I talk about the importance of finding your voice and being willing to take risks. It has been a lifelong journey for me to be able to articulate what I am thinking and to step out of my comfort zone. It takes courage to take risks but as I have taken on small risks and succeeded at those, I built my confidence to take on more challenging risks. Though I don’t like doing this, I can only grow in my abilities and skills by taking risks. So, when I have doubts and fear that I cannot do something, I realize that it is the opportunity or role I should step into, and I have grown in my skills and experience. I love this quote by Barbara Winter, “When you come to the edge of all the light you know, and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught to fly”. I encourage you risks to fly high.
